11/24/2023 0 Comments Divvy 165m![]() ![]() Having seen 2556 games in 113 years, it is the widest of all the grounds to host an AFL in 2013. ![]() Interestingly, there have been 43 grounds which have seen a VFL or AFL game being played for points. ( of course, that will never happen) the argument is absurd. Then i will write to Gil and put forward a suggestion to have Geelong removed from the competition because of their very good venue creates angst among opposing supporters. Each ground has its own fingerprint on the game itself, both in Melbourne and interstate. Differences exist in modern-day AFL, with no two grounds exactly the same. They all require a minimum of at least 5 metres of space between the boundary line and fence for safety reasons. They are typically between 135 and 185 metres long from goal to goal and 110 to 155 metres wide. The ground came second to advertising! There are no set dimensions for an AFL field. The AFL instructed Geelong to bring the boundary line in by half a metre in 2018, due to injuries from LED fencing. Footy fans can't stand the fact that they have a home ground here in Victoria. The fact is Geelong have played at Kardinia Park for 82 years and i have seen them get thrashed down there, they will soon have 11 home games at the venue seating 40k and that's where the money went. ![]() Old suburban grounds were tiny, google map from the air and you can see how small Windy Hill is for example, all venues are different and that continues to this day, if there was any criteria for an AFL venue it was ignored when the AFL built Docklands and approved the Adelaide Oval. ![]()
